The storm has passed

A blizzard hit us. It started Sunday night.

On Monday, all we could hear was a strong wind and witness how the winter storm arrive. Monday was supposedly my start at work too. I didn’t think twice of calling in early that morning. I didn’t want to take a risk that day. I was sure that they would understand due to the bad weather and travel warnings.

It got white out and then we lost power right after 8 o’clock in the morning.

The power went back up for less than half an hour, then lost it again.

It got cold inside the house. We started layering our clothes. We made sure the girls were wearing warm clothes. Even though it sounds silly, we wore our gloves at some point. All day we did various things while waiting for the power to get back on, and ignoring the brutal weather outside. We took naps, read books, ate, drawing and with my charged up laptop, I did some writing. A good thing we were stocked up with drinking water, food and candles.

We’re thankful for the linemen who fixed the power.

This was the time of the year when our family will remember this forever, especially the girls. But we survived the winter storm and tomorrow will be just like a normal day for all of us.

Stay warm and safe, my friends!
